RULES.

In order to have a homely and conducive atmosphere in l'étoile, we would like to set some ground rules we expect each and every of our members to follow.

  1. Check the group notes in LINE from time to time in case you’ve missed out anything! Please like the post or at least acknowledge it so we know you’ve read it.

  2. Participate in the compulsory collabs. If you are unable to participate in either, please inform us beforehand so we can make the necessary adjustments. If you fail to inform us, we will not hesitate to issue a warning to you. However, if you do inform us earlier with a reason, we will be more lenient and let you off a maximum of 3 times before issuing a warning.

  3. You will have a maximum of 10 days to complete the main vocals for each collab. The last 4 days will be left for adlibs, harmonies and any redo-ing. If you fail to complete this without a reason, a warning will be issued.

  4. Be responsible.

    1. Do notify us personally about anything (hiatus, sudden leave etc.). Posts undirected to us will not be tolerated. Unless we are told/sent the post directly, we will take it that you have gone offline without reason and thus give a warning.

    2. Please do not pull out from a project without a valid reason. If you signed up for a project, it is your responsibility to stay committed to the project. Valid reasons include falling sick, last minute travelling and personal reasons.

    3. PLAY YOUR PART! Do give us frequent updates on how far you are progressing in your work. Please reply to our messages when asking for updates. Ignoring messages will cause unnecessary panic within the members. Should you not be able to complete your work on time or would like to pull out, please inform us in advance.

  5. Please do not quit the group chat suddenly without notice or explanation, or we will take that you are no longer interested in being in l'étoile.

  6. If you are uncontactable for more than 2 weeks straight without notice, we will not hesitate to give you a warning. This will be allowed only two times.

  7. Please try to speak in English as much as possible to avoid miscommunications and language barriers.

  8. Please try to maintain peace in the group. No group drama will be tolerated, as it is usually the reason for the disbanding of groups. If any problems arise, please try to talk them out maturely. If not, you can always approach us (Shizu, Kayla) and we will try our best to help!

  9. Making of notes in the main group chat is strictly prohibited. Unless you have permission from the leaders, please refrain from making unnecessary notes. However, feel free to make notes in project group chats as long as they are of relevance and contribute to the project.

  10. If you have any questions or any problems regarding the group, please do not hesitate to raise it to any of the leaders. As it is our first time managing a group without prior experience, we may not be the best leaders but I’m sure with your help we’ll be able to improve.

  11. We will review the members’ activity frequently and we will “release” you from our group if you have 3 strikes as we take it that you are uninterested in our group anymore.

  12. If we notice that your performance is unsatisfactory, we will tell you to redo your lines. Please ensure that your performance is gr888 to avoid redoing. If harmony/adlib guides are provided, please follow them as it takes effort for the other members to do them.

  13. The secret keyword to join l'étoile is 'le toilet' (don't ask)

  14. If your commitment levels have been low and you seem to be uninterested, we may give you warnings. If this happens repeatedly, you will be released from the group. We do not wish to have uncommitted members in this group.

  15. Be respectful. No name-calling or hurtful language will be tolerated. This is extremely rude and is considered cyberbullying. Doing this will result in an immediate ban from the group.

  16. Focus on quality. Give each other feedback wherever possible. Possible areas can be on volume, pitch (singing the line wrongly), timing, settings etc. Anything really! Help is always appreciated as long as it’s constructive and improves the group as a whole.

  17. Our expectations in EVERY collab:

    1. Learn the song. You will been given time in advance to learn the song, and be told about our schedule. It is your responsibility to learn the song. If you sing any lines wrongly, you will be told to redo.

    2. Timing must be correct. All choruses/duets must be in sync, and nobody should lag behind or be too fast. If you are unsure about your group lines, ask someone else in the group to lead and then follow them strictly.

    3. Stylised singing in your solo lines is okay but no stylised singing is allowed in group lines!

    4. Ensure that the volume of your voice is equal and consistent throughout the collab. Please do your parts (solo lines and group parts) separately such that the volume can be adjusted accordingly and you won’t overpower anyone else. Do adjust the volume of your harmonies and adlibs such that they are appropriate and blend well.

    5. When doing harmonies, follow the main vocalist’s timing and style.

    6. Should you have any adlib ideas, please open a freestyle and demonstrate it for us before adding it as a layer into the official open call. It is suggested that you link the entire group to it such that other members may input their thoughts and advice. However, if you do not feel comfortable with it, just send it to one of the leaders!

  18. Members are strongly encouraged to actively participate in collab discussions! You may feel free to raise any points you’d like us to take note of. You may also request for specific lines (main vocals, harmony, adlibs etc.) and/or take part in the scripting of the collabs! Do note that the lines you request for may not be given to you though. We have to consider the fairness of the lines and of course, if your voice suits the line(s).

  19. Honesty is always appreciated. If you are against something or someone, or something has happened in your life, please inform us personally. This is to prevent misunderstandings between the members and to allow the group to grow together!

  20. Be friendly and try to get to know your fellow members! We promise that everyone’s nice and that talking will enhance your experience with l'étoile. It makes working together easier too <3
